Udhampur police foils narcotics smuggling bid, arrests six with charas, cash

Jammu, Nov 2 (UNI) Police on Monday foiled a bid to smuggle contraband of charas and arrested six smugglers along with cash in Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Police spokesman here said that police recovered six-kg of contraband (cannabis) along with more than Rs one lakh cash from six narcotic smugglers at Thard on Jammu-Srinagar national highway in Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir.
He said that based on reliable information, Police party intercepted one taxi and two-wheelers and during search, they recovered around six-kg of ‘charas’ with cash from the possession of six smugglers identified as Nissar Ahmed Butt of Momen, Danjipura, District Anantnag, Irfan Pal of Babapul, Shopian, Samrat Mugal of Gujjar Nagar, Amir Choudhary of Gujjar Nagar, Jammu, Nazer Mohammad of UP, at present Sunjwan, Jammu and Azam Mohammad of Bathindi, Jammu.
The consignment, along with cash and vehicles, were seized on the spot while a case was also registered and investigation started.
