With COVID Guidelines in Place, Schools in These States to Reopen From Mid-November | Check Detailed SOPs Here

School, College Reopening News: Even though a number of states have already commenced schools and colleges from today, still there are some states which are planning to reopen classes from November 16, keeping the coronavirus cases in mind. While some states such as Andra Pradesh and Assam have opened schools with all possible COVID guidelines, still other states such as Haryana, Odisha, Tamil Nadu are planning to reopen educational institutes from November 16.

Haryana

Issuing a notification, the Haryana government on Monday said that the schools and colleges in the state will open from November 16, while online classes have started from Monday.

“In view of the needs of students studying in colleges and universities, it has been decided to open government, government-aided, private colleges and universities from November 16 following the standard operating procedures,” the notification stated.

As per the order, in case a student needs to clarify his doubts, he can visit the college keeping in mind the norms of social distancing and following the coronavirus guidelines.

Odisha

In a similar manner, the Odisha government last week issued a notification and announced partial reopening of schools for students of classes 9-12 from November 16.

In the notification, the state government, however, said that the academic institutions across the state would remain closed till November 30.

“The classes of 9th to 12th in schools under the control/superintendence/supervision of School and Mass Education Department will open from November 16, 2020 as per the guidelines/SOP to be issued by the S&ME Department,” an order said.

Academic institutions, including coaching centres, have been closed since March in view of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The state government further in the order said that the authorities are permitted to conduct examinations (academic, competitive and entrance tests), evaluation and other administrative activities.

Tamil Nadu

The Tamil Nadu government also issued a similar order and allowed schools, colleges to reopen from November 16 by following Standard Operating Procedures to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

Announcing the new relaxations, Chief Minister K Palaniswami said schools, colleges, research and other educational institutions would be allowed to open from November 16.

Though the state had earlier announced that students in classes from 10 to 12 would be permitted to go to schools on a voluntary basis from October 1, the move was dropped subsequently in view of concerns over the virus spread.

Goa

However, the Goa government said it will take a decision on resumption of schools in the state over the next two days. Making the announcement, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Monday said that the consultation process is over, the decision (re-opening of schools) will be made on Tuesday or day after.
