UP: SP dist chief held for behaving indecently with woman

Farrukhabad, Nov 2 (UNI) District president of Samajwadi Party Nadim Ahmad Farooqui was arrested by the police on charges of threatening to kill a woman and indulging in indecent behaviour with her in the Shamsabad area here on Monday.
Police sources said here that Sitara Begum, resident of Kotla locality in Shamsabad area, had on Sunday night given a written complaint in the police station that Farooqui and his supporters allegedly pointed a pistol towards her and tried to kill her over some matter. She has also alleged indecent behaviour.
Sources said that based on the complaint, police have registered a case against the SP district chief under Sections 147, 148, 149, 307, 323, 354, 452 and 506.
Apart from Farooqui, eight other persons, including the SP leader's PRD Guard and two unidentified persons, have been made accused in the case.
Police said that following the arrest, the accused was presented in the Fatehgarh court, from where he was sent to jail. The district judge has fixed the hearing on the bail application on Tuesday.
