Volkswagen's newest dealership in Australia doesn't allow any customers inside its showroom.
The store has no employees, the vehicles on display don't work, and its location changes frequently. It's also less than a foot tall.
The "world's smallest car dealership," as Volkswagen claims it to be, is part of an augmented reality experience designed to let consumers explore and shop the company's lineup using their phone. It's one way Volkswagen is trying to make shoppers more comfortable with buying a vehicle online during the pandemic.
The technology lets users test a vehicle's lights, open and close the doors and interact with the interior. They also can schedule a test drive if they'd prefer that instead.
