MUMBAI: A horse, whose heel of hind leg got stuck in the hole of an underground chamber on a road in Nalasopara, was rescued after over an hour on Sunday.
The horse sustained injuries on the right hind leg and was treated. The rescue operation that went on from around 1.46pm to 2.45pm, saw residents, passersby, police and firemen making every effort to pull out the heel from the chamber.
The horse along with his owner Isman Mughul was walking alongside the road at Patankar Road in Nalasopara (west) when the right hind heel of the horse got stuck in a chamber. The horse collapsed on the floor and soon locals and passersby got down to releasing the heel from the chamber hole.
Welding machine and a cutter machine were used to open the chamber. After about an hour, firemen and locals succeeded in opening up the chamber and releasing the heel. The crowd lauded the efforts with claps. Turmeric powder was applied by locals on the hind leg of the horse before it was taken away for treatment.
