Govt playing game of false promises with farmers: BKU

Govt playing game of false promises with farmers: BKU

Prayagraj, Nov 1 (UNI) Accusing the Uttar Pradesh government of playing with the farmers with false promises, Bhartiya Kisan Union (BKU) workers on Monday protested near the Girja ghar in the Civil Lines police station area

BKU Prayagraj unit president Anuj Singh said that the Yogi government is talking in arbitrary terms over the issues of farmers whose positive, concrete base cannot be seen on the ground.

Mentioning the grievances related to smart meters, paddy purchase and irrigation of farmers, he said that the farmers are the grain providers of the country and if the government machinery tortures them, how will the nation's needs be fulfilled?

Mr Singh said that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had promised that the sugarcane payments of the farmers will be done before the mills start operating. The mills have started but the payment hasn't been made.

He averred that the farmers have harvested paddy but the purchase centers have not started. Those that are open are returning the farmers after citing lacks in the paddy.
