117 recoveries, 71 fresh COVID-19 cases in Meghalaya

Shillong, Nov 2 (UNI) Meghalaya on Monday registered 117 recoveries from Covid-19 infection
and 71 fresh cases of the viral infection even as number of active cases in the hill state came
down to 1,009.
Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War informed that of the new cases 36 were
recorded in West Jaintia Hills district, 29 East Khasi Hills district, two in Ri-Bhoi district and
West Garo Hills district, one each in East Garo Hills district and one in North Garo Hills district.
Of the new recovered cases, the senior medical official said 83 were recorded in East Khasi
Hills district bringing down the number of active cases in the district to 327 that include 303
civilians and 24 personnel from armed and paramilitary force.
In other districts, 14 more patients have recovered from the viral infection in Ri-Bhoi district,
eight in South Garo Hills district, five each in West Garo Hills district and West Jaintia Hills
district and one each in East Jaintia Hills district and North Garo Hills district.
Dr. War attributed the decreased of active cases in East Khasi Hills district was mainly
because the citizens have become more aware of the protocols of social distancing,
wearing of masks and sanitising of hands.
He, however said that there is a spike in other districts of the state.
Till date, Meghalaya has registered 9,678 confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 1,009
active cases, 90 deaths with 0.92 fatality rate and 8,579 recoveries.
While 253 persons are in institutional quarantine, 465 persons are in home
quarantine/isolation, even as of the 2, 03, 556 swab samples have been sent for testing
of which 1, 93, 878 have tested negative for the virus, War informed.
