Kolkata, Nov 2 (UNI) The COVID-19 toll in Bengal rose to 6,957 with the death of 57
persons on Monday, while the tally touched 3,81,608 with 3,957 new confirmed cases.
According to the latest State Government Health bulletin, the active cases accounted
for 36,576, while the number of discharged cases stood at 3,38,075.
The percentage of discharged rose to 88.59 per cent.
The bulletin said the total number of samples tested stood at 46,44,119 with 43,237
tested in the past 24 hours.
While the city recorded the highest number of 2235 deaths so far, surrounding districts
of North 24 Parganas and Howrah came second and third respectively with 1602 and 748
fatalities.
South 24 Parganas accounted for 473 deaths, the toll in Hooghly stood at 321, Darjeeling
141, Paschim and Purba Midnapore 211 and 196 respectively, Malda 86, Murshidabad 97,
Nadia 155, Paschim Bardhaman 105, Purba Bardhaman 74,Jalpaiguri 88, Uttar Dinajpur 54,
Dakshin Dinajpur 54, Birbhum 53, Alipurduar 76, Kalimpong 15, Cooch Behar 54, Purulia 29,
Jhargram 11 and Bankura 76.
