Jobless for years, man fulfills vow, 'gifts' life to God after getting bank job

Kanniyakumari, Oct 31 (UNI) In a bizarre incident, a
32-year-old man committed suicide by ‘offering his life
to God’ as part of fulfilling his vow for getting a job at
Putheri village near Nagercoil in this district on Friday.
Police said today that C.Naveen committed suicide by
lying down on the railway track before a running train,
leaving a suicide note to his parents at Elluvilai village.
In the suicide note, he stated that he promised to offer
his life to God if he got a job. ''As I got the bank job,
I am going to God'', he said.
Investigations revealed that Naveen was an engineering
graduate and did not have a job for many years. He was
frustrated on being unemployed and offered prayers for
getting a good job.
Naveen was selected as an assistant manager in Bank of
Baroda and was posted in Mumbai.
Nearly 15 days after joining duty, Naveen flew down
to Thiruvananthapuram on Friday night and then came
down to Putheri by road, where he sacrificed his life
by placing his head on a railway track.
He was subsequently run over by a speeding train,
plunging his family and the locality in grief.
Nagercoil railway police registered a case and are
investigating to find out if there was any other
reason for Naveen to have taken this extreme step.
