NOIDA: Congress leader Sachin Pilot on Friday said people's desire for a change will be reflected in the coming bypolls in Uttar Pradesh. If his party performs well and BJP doesn't, it would send out a strong message to the entire state, he added.
Byelections to eight UP assembly seats are scheduled to be held on November 3.
Pilot, who was travelling to Bulandshahr to campaign for the Congress candidate, targeted the Yogi Adityanath government, saying instead of focusing on law and order and governance, he was busy with politics of religion.
"There are tremendous opportunities in UP but the CM is working in arrogance because of his government's majority. You see what happened in Hathras. There is nobody to listen to the poor," he said.
Taking a dig at BSP supremo Mayawati, who has said her MLAs would vote for even a BJP candidate to ensure an SP defeat, Pilot pointed out that the public was watching everything very closely. "Going back and forth on your ideology reduces the mandate of the people. When the assembly elections take place in UP, Congress and its allies can provide a better alternative and strong government," he said.
On the Bihar elections, Pilot said there is a strong current in favour of change: "Biharis are asking questions... my belief is that the Mahagathbandhan would perform well." he said.
In Madhya Pradesh too, bypolls are taking place on 28 seats. "From the feedback I received during my visit, our candidates are in a good position," he said.
