Punjab: Ludhiana reports 42 new Covid-19 cases, 2 deaths

LUDHIANA: Deputy Commissioner Varinder Sharma on Saturday informed that the number of Covid-19 patients getting cured in Ludhiana is increasing with each passing day. He said that there are 281 active patients in the district at present.
He said that sincere efforts are being made to keep people safe from Covid-19. He said that a total of 49 patients (42 new patients from district Ludhiana and 7 from other states/districts) have tested positive in the last 24 hours time.
He further said that till date, a total of 39,0339 samples have been taken, out of which report of 38,8342 samples have been received, of which 36,5296 samples were found negative while report of 1,997 samples were pending. He said that now, the total number of patients related to Ludhiana is 20,291, while 2,755 patients are related to other districts/states.
He said that 2 patients lost their lives on Saturday(from Ludhiana district). Now, the total number of persons who lost their lives include 837 people from Ludhiana and 320 from other districts.
He informed that till date, 46,937 persons have been kept under home quarantine in the district and at present, the number of such persons is 951. Today, 59 persons were sent for home quarantine.
He said that whenever the district administration and health department Ludhiana find out about any positive or suspected Covid-19 person, their samples are immediately sent for testing. Similarly, 2,423 samples of suspected patients were sent for testing today and their results are expected shortly.
