ED seeks permission to interrogate Swapna, Sivasankar together

Kochi, Oct 31 (UNI) Enforcement Directorate has submitted an application seeking permission to interrogate gold smuggling case accused Swapna Suresh, PS Sarith and Sandeep Nair together with M Sivasankar, former principal secretary to the chief minister.

ED has submitted a request for the judicial custody of Swapna, Sarith and Sandeep. The request will be considered by the court on Monday. Life Mission CEO U V Jose will also be questioned, sources said on Saturday.

ED arrested Sivasankar for his involvement in money laundering. But he did not cooperate with the quizzing. ED is still probing whether the money retrieved from Swapna's bank locker belonged to Sivasankar.

From the facts obtained by questioning Swapna and Sivasankar separately, it is learnt that the latter had no share in the money. But his involvement was evident in every phase of the money deal.

ED has also found out from Sivasankar's WhatsApp chats that he contacted Customs to retrieve the diplomatic baggage containing smuggled gold addressed to UAE consulate before it was opened by officials. Hence his involvement suspected.
