100% tax waiver for bus operators till Dec 31

In a major relief to bus operators, Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh today ordered 100 per cent waiver on motor vehicle tax till December 31 for all stage carriage, mini and school buses, while deferring payment of tax arrears, without interest and penalty, to March 31, 2021.

The move will result in a total financial benefit of Rs 100 crore to the transport sector, according to a spokesperson.

The Chief Minister also directed Transport Minister Razia Sultana to discuss and resolve other issues of mini private bus owners by next week. The announcement was made by the CM at a virtual conference with private transport associations. — TNS
