Orlando Pirates head coach Josef Zinnbauer hailed his side's performance after a dominant 3-0 win over Kaizer Chiefs in the first-leg of the MTN8 semi-finals at Orlando Stadium on Saturday.

Goals by Zakhele Lepasa, Vincent Pule and Thembinkosi Lorch gave the Buccaneers a comfortable win as they placed one foot in the competition's finals.

"We were the first team who managed to score and this was important for us to take the advantage," Zinnbauer told SuperSport TV post-match.

"We then played on the counter and created more chances to score which we eventually did in the second-half when fighting for the spaces.

"Compliments to the team and to Lorch who played an excellent game but the other guys also. Pule's constant running and he scored a good goal.

"It was a good game for us."

The German while pleased with his side's performance pleaded for patience from fans as his side were still in a building process.

"You see today a little bit the experience of Thabang Monare who was very calm on the ball, left an option and he slowed the game down for us when needed," Zinnbauer added.

"But we need time also, we need time to take the next step for the players like Monare and the others who will need more time for conditioning and to adapt to our tactical approach.

"But we'll get it, I have a very good feeling."
