Our government is making every effort not to disrupt the supply of essential commodities. Lalchamliana's statement came a day after the Chachar district administration of Assam demanded the removal of the army from the Mizoram government.

Lalchamliana said on Thursday that the Mizoram government follows the outbreak of the Bengal Northeast Frontier Regulations 1873 notified in 1875. It borders Mizoram and Assam since the time of the ancestors. In fact, there has been a dispute between the two states over the border and many people have been injured in the raging violence. A large number of trucks have been stopped at the border. There is a dispute between them about the constitutional and historical boundaries.

While Assam favors the constitutional boundary, Mizoram, Nagaland, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh emphasize the historical boundaries. Lalchamliana alleged that since Wednesday some local residents of Lailapur blocked the highway connecting National Highway 306 and Bairabi village of Mizoram to Hailakandi in Assam.

Apart from this, people also surrounded the Medili in Mamit district of Mizoram. Expressing concern over this situation, he said, "Communalism should not be colored on this matter of border dispute." People on both sides of the border should live in peace and harmony as the current issue is not communal but deployment on the border is dependent on the governments of both neighboring states.
