Panchkula woman duped of Rs12.20L

A 34-year-old woman from Haripur village in Sector 4 here was allegedly duped of Rs12.20 lakh by a Kalka resident on the pretext of helping her in getting a government job. The complainant, Shallu Aggarwal, told the police that she came in contact with the suspect, Ajay Kashyap, in January, 2019.

Kashyap, who claimed that he had good relations with leaders, offered to help her in getting her a government job.

He demanded Rs20 lakh from the victim for the deal. She paid Rs12.20 lakh to Kashyap in four instalments.

"The suspect took the complainant to the Civil Secretariat, Chandigarh, several times with an assurance that she will get the job soon. When the suspect failed to arrange an interview for the victim, she asked him to refund the money," according to the FIR. A case was registered. — TNS
