Tamil Nadu records 2,608 new COVID-19 cases, 38 deaths

Chennai, Oct 30 (UNI) Tamil Nadu recorded 2,608 fresh cases of COVID-19 and 38 associated deaths on Friday, taking its infection tally to 7,22,011 and the toll to 11,091.

Health department in its bulletin said of the 38 deaths, 21 were reported in government hospitals and 17 in private hospitals.

The total number of active cases as on date stood at 23,532.

A total of 77,356 samples were tested by RT-PCR in the last 24 hours taking the total number of samples tested till date to 98,85,443.

A total of 3,924 patients were discharged in the day, taking the count of recovered cases to 6,87,388.

Chennai recorded 723 fresh cases today, taking the city’s caseload to 1,99,173 while the death toll increased to 3,639 with 13 more fatalities.
