Gurgaon: The health department has sanctioned Rs 16 lakh for the redevelopment of the sub-divisional hospital in Sohna, that will include a new ward for sick neonatal. At present, the hospital has 50 beds and the revamp is planned as per the National Quality Assurance Standard (NQAS) certificates for quality.
The dedicated ward for newborns will have 12 ICU beds and two ventilators. It will also have a blood storage unit and a paediatric doctor.
As per the redevelopment plan, the hospital will have boundary walls. It will ensure that the toilets are clean, keep dedicated areas for biomedical waste, install coloured dustbins to differentiate the waste type and keep the premises clean. The makeover of these facilities includes proper emergency wards, sample collection centres, bilingual signs and pictorial guidance for patients. It will also have a dedicated green belt.
In all there are 12 services that will considered for the redevelopment of the hospital, health department officials said. Chief medical officer Dr Virender Yadav, said, “Departments such as emergency services, OPD, labour room, IPD, lab, radiology, pharmacy, blood storage unit, auxiliary services and operation theatre will be assessed in this set up.”
The quality standards are arranged under eight ‘areas of concern’ – services, patient rights, inputs, support services, clinical care, infection control, quality management and outcome. “We will have 12 ICU beds for sick newborn babies and will have new equipment for the labour room. As it is a sub-divisional hospital, we are not planning to increase its beds. It will have its own blood unit which will help its patients to get quality service in this set up,” he added.
The quality certification programme was launched with the aim to recognise well-performing public health facilities and also to improve the credibility of government hospitals. At present, Haryana has a total of 571 government hospitals, primary and urban healthcare centres, out of which 91 have been certified for 2019-20.
