The police have booked seven persons, who were running an immigration firm at Phase XI and duping people on the pretext of sending them abroad.
Five suspects have been arrested while two are still at large. The suspects have been identified as, Ajay, Sarika, Jasnoor, Manjit Kaur, Amrit Kaur, Kuldeep Singh and Gurtej Singh.
According to the police, Manjeet Kaur and Amrit Kaur were yet to be arrested. The suspects were duping people through their immigration firm — Saksham Enterprise Visa — on the pretext of sending them abroad.
The Phase XI SHO, Inspector Jagdeep Singh, said, “On getting several complaints from residents, we conducted a raid at the firm’s office today. The suspects will be produced before the court tomorrow. The two absconding suspects will also be nabbed soon. Further investigation is on.”
A case has been registered against the suspects under Sections 420, 406, 465, 467, 468, 471 and 120-B of the Indian Penal Code, and 13, Punjab Travel Professionals Act, 2014, at the Phase XI police station.
