KURUKSHETRA: The crime investigation agency (CIA)-I of Kurukshetra police acting on the tip-off arrested three accused after recovering 10.38 quintals of poppy husk and 34kg ganja (cannabis) from their possession stocked in a go-down near National Highway (NH) 44 (GT Road) on Friday, told district superintendent of police (SP) Rajesh Duggal.
The police said three arrested accused include two residents of Kurukshetra district Roshan of Dhantori village and Sandeep of Bhagwanpur Colony, Shahabad and Firoz Khan of Malakpur village in the Chhachhrauli area of Yamunanagar district.
SP Rajesh said, “All three accused would be presented in the court on Saturday to seek their police remand for further investigation.”
“The police received the information that narcotics are being sold near the highway. It was informed that Roshan, Sandeep, and Firoz have made a go-down in a property near Saras Hotel on GT Road and they have stocked poppy husk and ganja in large quantities. That they sell the contraband to truck drivers in connivance with their accomplices from Shiv Gorakh Dhaba under the limits of Thanesar Sadar police station. A raid was conducted and DSP Ravinder Tomar and naib tehsildar Jasveer Ranga were deputed as duty magistrates”, added SP Kurukshetra.
“After the raid, 10.38 quintals of poppy husk and 34kg ganga was found stocked and three accused were arrested”, said the SP.
He added that after the information, CIA-I and CIA-II were instructed to immediately check the suspected location. CIA-I in-charge inspector Jaspal Singh activated his team and successfully busted the drug dealers.
