Hospitality giants Accor and SBE have decided to convert Shoreditch’s The Curtain hotel into a stylish new Mondrian. A brand new 120-room hotel that will be in operation from spring, this will be one of its kind, and will be the sixth Mondrian at the international level and first European property since it vacated its bankside hotel last year.
Accor and SBE jointly decided to come up with the project and this includes an opening of nine hotels to by 2022, that includes Bordeaux and Cannes – scheduled for next year – and proposed sites in Australia, the Dominican Republic, Germany, the Maldives, New Zealand, Puerto Rico, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam, in addition to the recently opened Mondrian Seoul Itaewon.
The new Mondrian Shoreditch London will include a restaurant headed up by Dani García, the Andalusian chef who was awarded three Michelin stars in 2018. It will also house a new version of Rumpus Room, the rooftop bar and lounge that attracted crowds to the old bankside property. The Curtain Members Club will continue to operate under its current name.
Since July hotels in London gained permission to function but will remain operational till 10pm. All bars and hotels are to be closed by 10pm following the new –normal rules and regulations. This new-normal regulations have impacted on the business, at both international and domestic level. Tourism is majorly affected and declined drastically.
