NEW DELHI: In what appears to be a case of neighbourhood rivalry, a 21-year-old man was stabbed over a dozen times and killed by his rivals in south Delhi’s Tigri Extension on Tuesday.
The incident was captured on a CCTV camera, which led cops to one of the suspects, 19-year-old Vivek from Sangam Vihar, who was arrested and hunt is on for the others. The deceased has been identified as Satish Kumar.
Police received a call from Batra Hospital about a man been brought dead with stab injuries. A team reached the hospital and met one of the eyewitnesses, who stated that around 10.30pm on Tuesday, when he was going to buy milk, he saw Satish being threatened by a man. When he intervened, the accused called in more people and stabbed Satish, he added.
DCP (South) Atul Thakur said, since the accused had been identified, a team raided his house in Sangam Vihar and arrested him. Vivek told police that Satish used to object to his friend Piyush visiting him claiming that an outsider couldn’t come to their colony. “On Tuesday, Piyush had brought a knife, which he handed over to him. He said, when they met Satish at night, an argument ensued between them and he stabbed him to death,” Thakur said.
