Srinagar: Former Jammu and Kashmir chief ministers, Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti, have said that they will not be silent on the recent notification on land laws aimed at “looting land and resources” of J&K.

Addressing party workers in Srinagar on Thursday Abdullah alleged that New Delhi was “criminalising” dissent and branding those seeking protection for their honour and integrity as anti-nationals.

“New Delhi is coercing us through various tactics. Do they want us to bid adieu to mainstream politics,” he asked.

People’s Democratic Party chief Mufti said that J&K has been turned into a jail, where nobody is allowed to speak even as the Centre keeps issuing diktats, including the recent land laws.

“We are not here to stay silent. Your plans to loot J&K won’t be allowed to be implemented, even if we have to go to any extent…There is total lawlessness here,” said Mufti
