Chatra admin auctions paddy cultivated on encroached land

Chatra: The Chatra district administration has confiscated paddy grown on encroached government land and auctioned the produce to deter land grabbers who have paid heed to repeated warnings Paddy was illegally cultivated on 33 acres of land at Dhebro village under Kanhachatti block, Kanhachatti circle officer Pappu Rajak said. While the government fixed Rs 1,01,000 as the base price, the produce was finally sold to one Yugeshwar Yadav for Rs 2,05,000. “Four months ago, a notice was put up asking the encroachers to vacate the government land or face action, but they demolished the board and started paddy cultivation. We have auctioned the produce and submitted the amount to the government,” he said, adding that the administration will resort to similar action if government land is encroached upon.
