NEW DELHI: After the admission by a Pakistani minister that Pakistan was responsible for the 2019 Pulwama terrorist attack, the BJP attacked the Congress on Friday, saying it has exposed the party and its leaders who have turned anti-India in their hatred for Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
In his address to the National Assembly, Pakistan's science and technology minister Fawad Chaudhry termed the Pulwama terror attack an "accomplishment" under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan.
In reaction to the video clip of Fawad Chaudhry's admission, BJP President JP Nadda took a dig at both Islamabad and opposition leader Rahul Gandhi.
Nadda tweeted, "Congress' princeling does not believe anything Indian, be it our Army, our Government, our Citizens. So, here is something from his 'Most Trusted Nation', Pakistan. Hopefully now he sees some light."
Last year, Rahul Gandhi had questioned the BJP government over the Pulwama terror attack and asked who benefitted the most from it.
Echoing similar sentiments, BJP's national IT in-charge Amit Malviya in a tweet, said, "Fawad Hussein, minister in Imran Khan's cabinet admits Pulwama was Pakistan's doing and credited Imran's leadership. Now, one needs to ask the likes of Arvind Kejriwal, Rahul Gandhi, Farooq Abdullah, Mamata Banerjee, Ramgopal Yadav and others who spoke for the Pakistanis."
Malviya tagged with his tweet news reports about leaders of opposition parties questioning the timing of Pulwama attack, months ahead of Lok Sabha elections and whom it will benefit.
Union minister Prakash Javadekar also attacked the Congress, demanding that the party should apologise to the country for "conspiracy theories" and remarks about the incident.
"Pakistan has admitted its hand behind Pulwama terror attack. Now, Congress and others who talked of conspiracy theories must apologise to the country," he tweeted on Friday.
Hitting out at the Congress, BJP's national spokesperson Sambit Patra said, "Terrorism anywhere in the world has its roots in Pakistan. But, it is irony that Rahul Gandhi and his associates from Congress party termed the Pulwama attack as a match fixing between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Imran Khan.
"This exposes that Congress and its leaders in their hatred for Modi has turned anti-India."
Pakistan minister Fawad Chaudhry on Thursday said, "We attacked India after infiltrating in its own territory and the success in Pulwama was a success under the leadership of Imran Khan. It was a success of our community and the opposition is also a partner in this success."
The minister was responding to Pakistan parliamentarian Ayaz Sadiq who claimed that the Chief of Army Staff, General Qamar Javed Bajwa was extremely nervous in anticipation that India would launch a war after Pakistan captured Indian Air Force fighter pilot Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman last year.
Varthaman's fighter jet had been downed while pursuing a Pakistani fighter jet during a dogfight, a day after India launched an airstrike on a Jaish-e-Mohammad terror camp in retaliation to the Pulwama terror attack in February last year.
