Now, the followers of the breathtaking auroras can put a name to the dancing sky storms that are the sources of the northern lights. Kudos to a European tourism company!

As the nature lovers worldwide may not be able to travel to experience the spectacular northern lights in 2020. However, Visit Arctic Europe, a tourism organization, has declared that now they can claim for a piece of sky from the light show.

“The northern lights come in different colors and shapes. Some are very delicate, but still awe-inspiring, and some stronger, so strong in fact, that we decided to start giving them Nordic names,” reads a message posted to Visit Arctic Europe, a tourism board made up of partners in Finland, Sweden and Norway.

Between late August through the end of April, it’s the Aurora season when over 100 auroras can be viewed. These fabulous light shows are formed when electrically charged particles from the sun touch down on the atmosphere of Earth. Because of this, aurora displays come into view in dramatic shades of yellow, green, blue and red.

Now, anyone interested can submit ideas for potential names, Travel and Leisure reported.

All the hopeful aurora astronomers can share their ideas through Naming Auroras website, and also be prepared to explain why an aurora borealis should be named after you, a loved one or someone special who plays an integral role in lightning up your life.

On the Naming Auroras website, selected names will be revealed and on Artic’s Instagram page.
