Govt bans export of Onion seeds

Govt bans export of Onion seeds

New Delhi, Oct 29 (UNI) The government on Thursday imposed a complete ban on the export of Onion seeds, to increase the availability of Onions in the domestic market.

According to a notification issued by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade, the export of Onion seed will

remain banned till further orders.

There is heavy shortage of Onions in the domestic market and the price of the same has reached up to Rs 80 per kg in the market, due to the same.

Experts opined that due to unseasonal rainfall in the states of Karnataka and Maharashtra, the Onion crop was damaged, leading to shortage of the bulb in markets.
