Part of building collapses in Thane's Dombivli, none hurt

KALYAN: Half portion of a ground-plus-two-storey building collapsed on early Thursday morning at Kopar area in Dombivli.
The incident took place at 4am on Thursday at Kopar area in Dombivli.
Luckily, before the building portion collapsed, one person, Kunal Mohite, who was watching television till early morning, saw building's portion collapsing and he immediately informed the building residents due to which they managed to come out before the portion collapsed.
Mohite told TOI, "I was watching television at home when I heard sound that something fell in to my kitchen room and when I saw a huge portion of wall collapsing, I immediately woke up my other family members and later we alerted others in our building and all successfully managed to come out after which in five minutes entire half portion of building collapsed."
The building, Vithu Nivasis, is said to be 42-year-old and around 50 members of 15 families were living inside the building. The building was in the list of dangerous buildings of KDMC.
The KDMC, four years ago, had issued notice to building asking to vacate it. The officials from Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation said that they have found that since night, building plaster had started falling down but locals residing inside the building ignored and did not alert to civic body.
