Kolkata, Oct 29 (UNI) The COVID-19 toll in Bengal rose to 6,725 with the death of 61
persons on Thursday, while the tally touched 3,65,692 with 3,989 new confirmed
cases.
According to the latest State Government Health bulletin, the active cases accounted
for 37,094, while the number of discharged cases stood at 3,21,873.
The percentage of discharged rose to 88.02 per cent.
The bulletin said the total number of samples tested stood at 44,68,496 with 43,265
tested in the past 24 hours.
While the city recorded the highest number of 2172 deaths so far, surrounding districts
of North 24 Parganas and Howrah came second and third respectively with 1541 and 726
fatalities.
South 24 Parganas accounted for 452 deaths, the toll in Hooghly stood at 309, Darjeeling
139, Paschim and Purba Midnapore 206 and 188 respectively, Malda 82, Murshidabad 95,
Nadia 142, Paschim Bardhaman 100, Purba Bardhaman 73,Jalpaiguri 86, Uttar Dinajpur 54,
Dakshin Dinajpur 51, Birbhum 52, Alipurduar 76,Kalimpong 14, Cooch Behar 51, Purulia 28,
Jhargram 11 and Bankura 74.
