Tiger Brands has announced the successful completion of sale of of its value-added meat processing businesses to Silver Blade Abattoir, a subsidiary of Country Bird.
The sale includes the group's meat processing units Germiston, Polokwane and Pretoria. Tiger Brands previously announced that it would be selling its abattoir business at Olifantsfontein to Molare in an unrelated transaction.
The company's value-added meat product brands include Enterprise, Mielieklip, Renown, Bokkie and Top One.
Fin24 previously reported that Silver Blade would acquire the meat processing units for R153 million.
According to Tiger Brands, the agreements to sell its abattoir and meat processing businesses form part of a strategic review conducted by the board of directors in 2017.
The group is still facing a class-action lawsuit around a deadly outbreak of listeriosis in 2018.
