The hospitality and tourism industry in Kangra has been impacted negatively owing to the farmers’ agitation in Punjab. With passenger trains stopped, the tourism industry in the Kangra belt has come to a standstill.
The area used to get a large number of tourists from Maharashtra, West Bengal and Gujarat in October and November.
Ashwani Bamba, president of the Hotel and Restaurant Association of Himachal, said besides the suspension of train services, inter-state bus service too was yet to be resumed completely.
Bamba said if the situation persisted for a few more days, big hotels could be forced to close down operations.
