The Supreme Court has stayed the death sentence of a convict in the murder of a woman. The culprit strangled the woman and cut off her stomach and removed some body parts. Hearing on the plea of convict Mohan Singh, a bench headed by Chief Justice SA Bobde said, the execution of the death sentence will stay.

Senior advocate Siddharth Luthra, appearing for the convict, told the bench that this was not a case of murder in which he cut off the stomach of the deceased. On this, the Peetha asked, is he some kind of demon or something? Why did your client commit such a cruel act? Why did he open his stomach and fill his stomach with clothes? Is he some kind of surgeon or something? On the questions of the bench, Luthra said, Mohan Singh used to work as a security guard.

The Supreme Court is hearing a petition against the August 7 decision of the Rajasthan High Court. The High Court upheld the death sentence awarded to Singh by the trial court. This case was registered in 2019. Then the body of the woman tied with wires was found in a bag.

During the trial, Singh had claimed that he did not commit murder and he was falsely implicated in the case. However, in February this year, the trial court convicted him and sentenced him to death. The lawyer appearing for the state government before the High Court said that Singh has also been convicted in another murder case. The High Court, while upholding the trial court's decision, also referred to the disappearance of several organs, including the liver, in the judgment.
