Assam made tea sold for Rs 75 thousand per kilogram

Guwahati, Oct 29 (UNI) A special grade tea from Manohari Tea Estate of Dibrugarh in Upper Assam was sold for Rs 75000 per kg in the Guwahati Tea Auction Centre.
The special tea is of the Manohari Gold grade. A total of 1.200 kgs were sold by the auctioneer Contemporary Brokers Pvt. Ltd at Rs 75000 per kg to a Guwahati-based tea trader Vishnu Tea Company.
''This year, 2.5 Kilograms of Handmade Gold Tea was produced, out of which 1.2 Kilograms was sold in the auction and the remaining will be available at select outlets including GTAC lounge as demand for one of the rarest teas in the world continues to grow,” Rajan Lohia, Director, Manohari Tea Estate said in a statement.
Last year, the same brand of tea was sold at a price of Rs 50000 per kg. The Golden Butterfly tea of Dikom Tea Estate had set the record of selling at the highest price of Rs 75000 per kg.
