Positivity rate still highest in Faridabad, Panipat

Gurgaon: Haryana has conducted over 25.6 lakh Covid-19 tests so far. These include around 17 lakh RT-PCR tests and over 8.5 lakh rapid antigen tests.
A total of 7,17,388 tests have been carried out in the state in the month of October till now, a marginal dip of 0.6% compared to September (7,21,675 tests). As many as 7,21,657 tests were conducted in August. Haryana had carried out 5,79,359 tests till July 31.
According to health department records, Faridabad had the highest positivity rate in August (10.5%), followed by Panipat (8.5%), Rewari (8.3%), Gurgaon (7%), Mahendergarh (6.6%), Ambala (6.5%), Panchkula (5.8%), Palwal (5.3%), Sonipat (5.2%) and Karnal. Jind (1.7%) had the lowest positivity rate, followed by Kaithal (2.5%), Chakhri Dadri (2.6%), Jhajjar (2.6%), Fatehabad (3%) and Nuh (3.2%).
The positivity rate rose slightly or stayed in the same range in most districts this month. Faridabad is at the top at 10.1%, followed by Panipat (8.4%), Rewari (8.4%), Panchkula (8.2%), Gurgaon (8.1%), Ambala (8%), Karnal (7.1%), Hisar (6.5%), Sirsa (6.3%) and Kurukshetra (6.1%).
Only four districts — Charkhi Dadri (1.6%), Mahendergarh (5.9%), Nuh (1.5%) and Palwal (4.9%) — showed a declining trend.
Till now, Gurgaon has carried out a total of 3,53,241 tests for Covid, the highest in the state. It is followed by Faridabad (2,36,242 tests), Hisar (1,37,827), Jhajjar (1,15,886) and Ambala (1,10,825).
As Gurgaon, Faridabad, Kurukshetra, Karnal and Rohtak have been carrying out more tests as compared to other districts, they are witnessing a hike in active cases. On August 31, Gurgaon (994 active cases), Panipat (942), Faridabad (738), Karnal (667) and Rohtak (546) were the top five districts with the highest number of active cases.
On Tuesday (October 27), the top five districts were Gurgaon (2,988), Hisar (1,096), Faridabad (951), Rohtak (771) and Rewari (591).
“Some districts, including Charkhi Dadri, Fatehabad, Jind, Kaithal and Nuh, are still testing less. As a result, active cases are less there, and so is the positivity rate. Although overall testing figures in the state have improved compared to July, detection and treatment of Covid patients in the initial stages is required to prevent fatalities from the infection. Haryana has been testing more and has performed better in terms of Covid fatalities as compared to Delhi, Punjab, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh,” said a senior Haryana health department official.
