NEW DELHI: Vodafone Idea on Thursday posted a consolidated net loss of Rs 7,218 crore for the quarter ended September 30. The telecom player had posted a loss of Rs 50,921 crore in the corresponding quarter last year.

Net loss of the company stood at Rs 25,467 crore in the preceding quarter ended June 30. Revenue from operations declined marginally by 0.49 per cent YoY to Rs 10,791.20 crore.

Average revenue per user (Arpu) increased to Rs 119 in Q2FY21 from Rs 107 in Q2FY20. Arpu was at Rs 114 in the preceding quarter.

In a regulatory filing, Vodafone Idea said its revenue grew 1.2 per cent QoQ as economic activities have gradually started to resume. The telco's subscriber base declined to 271.8 million in Q2, as compared to 279.8 million in Q1.

“We continue to invest in 4G to increase coverage and capacity. Our overall broadband site count stood at 457,386 as of Q2FY21 compared to 446,131 in Q1FY21, with 4G coverage to around 1 billion Indians,” Vodafone Idea said.
The company announced its results post market hours. Earlier during the day, the scrip closed 3.46 per cent down at Rs 8.38, while the benchmark BSE Sensex settled 0.43 per cent down at around 39,750.

With such a huge loss, what will happen to mobile users if the Vodafone shuts down. Number portability will take months. How will users manage till then.

2 Great show. Hope the top management gives a proper positive briefing to the press and to the analysts and show a positive vision. Fundamentally Vodafone idea is as strong as Bharti Airtel but the top management and ownership is unable to convince the onlookers and strangely seem uninterested in changing the status quo.
