NOIDA: Work in three shifts round-the-clock with over 180 workers is under way to expedite the construction of the 4.5km six-lane Aghapur elevated road near Bhangel. By Tuesday, 1012 foundation pillars were completed.
Chasing a December 2021 deadline, the Noida Authority began work on the Rs 468cr project in July. Once complete, the corridor between Aghapur and Sector 82 will unclog traffic in Noida industrial area and Barola as well as facilitate seamless commute between Noida and Ghaziabad.
Additionally, the Authority is also expediting work on the Rs 52.58cr six-lane 780-metre-long underpass at sectors 51-52 and sectors 71-72 intersection, which is now 81% complete and expected to be operational by January 2021.
“We began construction work of the Aghapur-Bhangel elevated road, post Unlock, in July. In order to cover the time lapsed, we have deployed manpower in three round-the-clock shifts. As a result in three months’ time, we have made considerable progress,” said Rajeev Tyagi, general manager of Noida Authority.
While Tyagi did not offer further details on the proposed design change during pile (foundation pillars) work to accommodate the two exit ramps at Barola and in Sector 107 for smooth vehicular movement, he said, “Some 449 piles are completed from Aghapur side and 563 piles from Salarpur side.” The road is being built by Uttar Pradesh Rajya Setu Nigam Ltd.
Meanwhile, work on the 780-metre six-lane underpass at the intersection of sectors 51-52 and 71-72 is 81% complete. Built by ITD Cementation India, the project is chasing a December 31deadline.
“I have been carrying out weekly inspections at both the sites. The underpass at sectors 51-52 intersection will be delivered to Noida residents latest by January 2021. With this, the commute from Wave City Centre metro station to Crossings Republik via Noida Extension will become very smooth,” said Tyagi, who added that for the time being the stretch from sectors 79 to 62-63 has been made operational in the area.
