Head coach Gavin Hunt praised his Kaizer Chiefs side's performance after getting off the mark with his first Premiership win in a 1-0 victory over Chippa United at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Tuesday.
The scoreline flattered Chippa United somewhat and failed to show the true reflection of how dominant Chiefs were after hitting the woodwork on three occasions.
Despite recording a massive 20 shots at goal, Chiefs scored through an own goal by Chippa defender Gregory Damons in the 77th minute.
Hunt praised his side's performance after Chiefs enjoyed 56% of possession while recording 20 shots at goal, with 10 on target while restricting Chippa to a single wayward attempt at goal.
"For the first time I think we looked like a proper football team," Hunt said post-match.
"It's taken a while but I thought Njabulo Blom in midfield was outstanding."
Hunt also reserved special praise for certain individuals such as man of the match Nkosingiphile Ngcobo and his defensive unit.
"It makes a difference because we've got a little bit of legs in there [midfield] to go up and down the pitch. Also [Nkosingiphile] Ngcobo for me is a great little player," Hunt added.
"The whole team tonight was good, defensively Siya [Siyabonga Ngezana] came in and looked good, [Philani] Zulu after we worked with him for one day, we had to do what we could and he was fantastic.
"We looked like a proper team tonight and that's the most important thing."
Chiefs next gear up for the first of two Soweto derbies against Orlando Pirates starting this Sunday.
Kick-off is at 15:00.
