Elderly woman murdered in Ludhiana

An elderly woman was allegedly murdered by a drug addict by hitting bricks on her head near the Jagraon bridge. The incident occurred in the intervening night of October 26-27.

The woman, aged around 72 years, was found murdered beneath the bridge. The woman had been living alone there and she used to seek alms from people.

SHO police division 2 Satpal said the woman seemed to have been murdered by some miscreant when the latter attempted to loot cash from her. The unknown person had hit brick at the head of the woman to kill her.

As per the eye witnesses, the victim had some cash and a drug addict had come to loot her money. When she protested and refused to give the money, the suspect killed her brutally and fled with the cash. The SHO said since the woman was staying alone, she was yet to be identified. No ID card or any other identify proof was recovered from her. The body has been kept at the local Civil Hospital for identification.
