Panaji: City Mayor Uday Madkaikar on Wednesday inspected the Ribandar football ground along with Nida Sayed OSD to Panaji MLA Atanasio Monserrate, officials from sports department, PWD water supplies department, Electricity department and others.
Speaking to this reporter, Madkaikar said that the Ribandar playground is a priority for the MLA and as such its work is taken up along with construction of new water tank and also to resolve the issue of Hindu crematorium in Ribandar.
He said that the playground was taken over by the Sports department in year 2013 but since then nothing was done to improve it as there was some dispute over the water pipeline and high tension wire was also passing through it.
“Within 7 days, water pipeline work would be done again and shifted one-metre deeper and within a week new water tank would be constructed besides high-tension overhead wires would also be shifted to meet the requirement for the playground,’’ he added.
“The land on the boundary line of the football ground would be acquired by the government,’’ he added.
