The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) announces “Find Your Inner Peace in the Uncertain World,” a virtual meditation event with the highly-respected Theravada Buddhist monk Ven. Yuttadhammo Bhikkhu. The online wellness event will feature an introduction to Thai meditation and mindfulness techniques as well as a Q&A followed by a live stream of the Loy Krathong, Thailand’s annual Festival of Light allowing participants to discover inner peace amidst the world’s current uncertainty.

Hosted via Zoom, the virtual meditation experience with Ven. Yuttadhammo Bhikkhu, Q&A session, and live Loy Krathong Festival will take place on Saturday, October 31, 2020 from 9:00am – 10:00am EST.

Launching during one of Thailand’s most notable festivals, Loy Krathong, TAT will bring the traditional celebrations to life digitally for the worldwide audience to experience Thailand from afar. The “Delightful Colors of the River 2020” celebrations will stream live from Wat Mahathat, Ayutthaya, and provide the audience with a front-row seat to cultural performances, traditional krathong procession, firework displays and performances by leading Thai artists and bands.

“It’s said that Buddha’s teachings through monk chats are the reason why Thai people always smile, even through difficult times,” said Charinya Kiatlapnachai, Director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand New York Office. “Until the Land of Smiles welcomes back travelers once again, we will share the powerful spirit of the destination with travelers digitally.”

As one the world’s best destinations for wellness retreats and soul-searching meditation, Thailand invites visitors into a world of soothing spa treatments, relaxing yoga sessions, spiritual meditations and monk chats. While uncovering the life of a monk in Chiang Mai, the culturally curious can discover how monastic life plays an integral role in Thailand’s overall sociology and learn to face the challenges of life through mindfulness retreats and programming available to non-Thai speaking travelers. Travelers can embrace the Thai wellness culture in destinations across the country with activities such as Thai massage, yoga, Vipassana meditation with a monk, Thai boxing classes, and more.
