The key players in the tourism sector of Turkey intend to expand the range of the market even further as they make groundwork for 2021.

To quote Ulkay Atmaca, head of the Professional Hotel Managers Association of Turkey, “We are looking for alternative markets for the coming years. We have important initiatives that will attract tourists not only from a few points, but from every corner of the world.” Highlighting that their optimum goal in 2020 is to keep as many facilities open as possible in the middle of this pandemic, Atmaca explained that in winter, they would like to keep more facilities open and kick-start 2021 in a more prepared way.

“There will be new studies on market diversification as a sector,” said Erkan Yagci, head of the Mediterranean Touristic Hoteliers Association.

He stated that 2023 tourism strategy of the sector is to build up product as well as market diversity.

Describing the tourism sector as the locomotive of the economy of the country, Yagci explained that he has complete faith in the sector and that it has the capability to return every investment made here all the more.

Portugal’s ambassador to Turkey earlier this year had stated her approval with the steps the government of Turkey was taking to endorse safe tourism in the middle of COVID.

“The initiative by the Turkish government to issue a safety certificate to institutions, namely restaurants and hotels who, on a voluntary basis, follow and adopt all the right procedures regarding safety and the prevention of COVID-19, is a very suitable one,” said Paula Leal Da Silva.

Turkey’s special Safe Tourism Certificate program lays down all-inclusive safety standards in different areas, starting right from airlines to accommodation, for Turkish citizens, international visitors and tourism employees.
