T Nagar gold robbery: Two arrested

CHENNAI: The Chennai police have got a breakthrough in the October 20 gold robbery case where 5kg gold was stolen. Police arrested a man and his girlfriend near Tiruvallur on Monday and recovered 20 sovereigns of gold and 7kg of silver from them.
Police said Rajendra Kumar made jewellery and supplied it to stores. A masked man broke into his shop on Moosa Street in T Nagar last Tuesday and robbed 5kg of jewellery and a large bag of gold and silver. Three special teams were formed to nab the suspect.
Police said the movements of the robber were recorded in 40 CCTV cameras. Two people came on a motorcycle and one man entered the shop, an investigating officer said.
Police identified the robber as Market Suresh, 43, from Kodambakkam. Police tracked down his girlfriend and after interrogating her rounded up Suresh from Putlur in Tiruvallur.
A police team from Tiruvallur helped the Chennai police nab Suresh from his hideout. Police arrested Suresh’s girlfriend for colluding with him.
