Sanjay Kumar came to Warangal six years ago to eke out a living, was arrested on May 25 after he had killed nine people including an infant of a family with which he was staying, by throwing them into a well after the victims ate the food laced with sleeping pills given by the accused.
He committed the gory killings on the intervening night of May 20 and 21 in Gorrekunta village of Geesukonda mandal in Warangal district.
He developed illegal relationship with one Rafiqua, a relative of Maqsood, the head of the family, but later cast his eyes on Rafiqua's young daughter and decided to kill Rafiqua and took her on the pretext of meeting his parents in his native place and on the way he gave her a drink laced with sleeping pills and threw out of the train after she became unconscious.
Her body was later found in Andhra Pradesh.
Sanjay returned to Warangal alone and Maqsood's wife became suspicious and wanted the matter to be reported to police following which the accused decided to kill the entire family members.
