THANE: A 40-year-old Mumbra resident has been arrested for duping a 65-year-old man from Goregaon of Rs 7 lakh after promising the victim a good commission in exchange of 2,000 currency notes for those of different denominations.
The accused, Sanjay Mohod, and two aides had fled with the cash after staging a fake arrest, said the Kapurbawdi police.
The victim had met the accused who offered Rs 7 lakh for exchange. He went to Kapurbawdi in March with the cash. After the money changed hands, two men, claiming to be cops, 'arrested' the accused and took away the cash too.
