Lucknow, Oct 28 (UNI) Apprehending another surge in the Covid 19 cases in the state during the coming festivals, Uttar Pradesh government has announced for a special drive to focus on sampling from tomorrow.
These tests would be done on the people who would be getting in contact with people in connection with the festival of Karva Chauth and Diwali.
However, Covid-19 cases in UP have reached 4,76,024 on Wednesday of which 4,43,579 have recovered and 25,487 were admitted to the hospitals or were in home isolation getting treatment.
Altogether 2049 fresh cases of Covid-19 were reported during the past 24 hours in the state while 27423 people have recovered.
The recovery percentage in the state has also increased to 93.18 per cent which is higher than the national average.
A total of 6,958 people lost their lives to the lethal virus with 18 fresh fatalities in the last 24 hours.
State Additional Chief Secretary, Health, Amit Mohan Prasad said, on Wednesday that the number of active patients were decreasing day by day and there was a decrease of 63 per cent since September 17 last when the peak was witnessed. The positivity rate in October has also came down to 2 per cent.
On Tuesday, a total of 1,54,450 samples were tested and the total Covid tests in the state has gone up to a record 1,44,31,272.
Mr Prasad said there are 11,348 positive asymptomatic patients in home isolation while 1561 patients were admitted to private hospitals. Rest patients are recovering in the government run Covid hospitals. He said till date 2,68,208 asymptotic patients preferred for home isolation in which 2,56,860 have recovered.
About 1,48,854 health teams during their surveillance visited 2.79 crore houses to check the health of over 13.74 crore people in the state.
Meanwhile, the UP government has announced a 16-days long focus sampling drive from tomorrow when Covid tests would be conducted on the people who have direct contact with people in every districts.
Mr Prasad said tomorrow , on the opening day,tests would be conducted of the drivers of the auto, three-wheeler and rickshaw pullers while on the second day on Friday, the workers of Beauty parlor, and mehndi outlets would be tested. Thereafter, workers of sweet shops, restaurants ,religious places, shopping malls and their security guards and electronic shops and other shops would also be tested.
He said most of the tests would be done on those people who were likely to get contact with people in view of the festivals of Karva Chauth and Diwali .
