Chinese smartphone maker OPPO has launched the two latest devices in its A Series in Australia, the A53s and the A53.

Both models have a 6.5-inch Neo-Display with a 90Hz screen refresh rate, and are built atop a Snapdragon 460 octa-core processor from Qualcomm. The battery is on the large side at 5000mAh. Both devices also have a touch sampling rate of 120Hz.

Both the A53s, which retails for $349, and the A53, which costs $299, will have 18W fast charging and AI triple camera setups.

The release of these two 4G devices comes after OPPO released three 5G-capable models in June – the Find X2 Lite, the Find X2 Neo and the Find X2 Pro. Another 5G model, the Reno 5G 10x Zoom, hit Australia the same month.

The company has also recently launched a couple of 4G models – the A91 and the AX5s, the latter priced at $299.

OPPO Australia managing director Michael Tran claimed the A53s and the A53 were pushing the boundaries for entry-level smartphones.

"At OPPO, we believe affordability is on par with cutting-edge technology," he said.

"The A53s and A53 demonstrate yet another harmonisation of these qualities, packing consumers' most desired features into a sleek body with a premium feel."

Both the A53s and A53 have multipurpose AI Triple Camera setups, consisting of a 13MP main camera + 2MP depth camera + 2MP macro camera. The macro lens allows zooming into details of objects 4cm away.

Now’s the Time for 400G Migration

The optical fibre community is anxiously awaiting the benefits that 400G capacity per wavelength will bring to existing and future fibre optic networks.

Nearly every business wants to leverage the latest in digital offerings to remain competitive in their respective markets and to provide support for fast and ever-increasing demands for data capacity. 400G is the answer.

Initial challenges are associated with supporting such project and upgrades to fulfil the promise of higher-capacity transport.

The foundation of optical networking infrastructure includes coherent optical transceivers and digital signal processing (DSP), mux/demux, ROADM, and optical amplifiers, all of which must be able to support 400G capacity.

With today’s proprietary power-hungry and high cost transceivers and DSP, how is migration to 400G networks going to be a viable option?

PacketLight's next-generation standardised solutions may be the answer. Click below to read the full article.
