Hyderabad: Exuding confidence that the TRS candidate Solipeta Sujatha would emerge victorious in the November 3 by-election to Dubbak Assembly constituency, Finance Minister T Harish Rao on Tuesday said the BJP candidate was bound to lose his deposit for the third consecutive time. “BJP is frustrated and playing all kinds of games to attract the attention of the voters,” he said.
Addressing “TRS Yuva Garjana” cycle rally at Thoguta in the constituency, Harish Rao said that village and mandal level BJP ranks had deserted the party which was now forced to hire workers from Karimnagar. “The party is raking up emotions by making false allegations. As people’s representatives, we are all bound by certain rules. Police checked my vehicle when I was on my way to Thoguta, even the car of party candidate Sujatha has been checked by police and we have cooperated with them,” he said.
He pointed out that the person from whom the cash was confiscated in Siddipet had clearly said that the money was meant for distribution and he was directed to release the cash bit by bit. “The BJP local cadre started spreading rumours right from Monday morning that something was going to happen. They created a ruckus when the officials were discharging their duties. I suspect that they are planning to do more such activities in the days to come,” he said.
Coming heavily on Minister of State for Home Affairs G Kishan Reddy, Harish Rao said Kishan Reddy must answer why the BJP government at the Centre failed to deposit Rs 15 lakh in every poor man’s bank account as promised and why the Centre failed to fill one crore jobs every year. “Nizamabad MP Arvind Dharmapuri failed to bring in Turmeric Board. And on the top of it, the Narendra Modi government has pushed farmers into oblivion by scrapping market yards,” Harish Rao said.
He said that the same Congress which had denied a ticket to Cheruku Muthyam Reddy in the 2018 elections was now shedding crocodile tears. He asked Cheruku Srinivas Reddy, the Congress candidate, how he could join a party that had ditched his father.
