HYDERABAD: Former minister Mohammed Ali Shabbir of the Congress on Tuesday demanded that the state government give compensation to the farmers who lost their paddy and cotton crops due to excess rains, spurious seeds among other reasons.
Shabbir Ali along with Medak and Kamareddy DCC presidents visited agriculture fields in Narsingi mandal where farmers had set ablaze the fields of damaged crops of paddy and cotton.
He said chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao was quick to announce Rs.10,000 financial assistance to the flood affected families in Hyderabad with an eye on forthcoming GHMC elections. "But the TRS government has not given any financial compensation to the farmers who lost their crops due to natural calamities or other causes in the last six years," Shabbir Ali said
Demanding that the flood affected families of Hyderabad should be given at least Rs. 25,000 each, Shabbir Ali demanded that the chief minister announce an immediate relief package for all the farmers who lost their crops in the current season. The farmers should be provided help before the Dubbak by-elections on November 3, if not the Congress party would launch a massive agitation for the cause of the farmers.
