Stock market update: Nifty IT index falls over 1%; L&T Infotech slips 3%

NEW DELHI: Nifty IT index was trading with losses at 02:10PM (IST) on Tuesday.

Shares of Larsen & Toubro Infotech (down 3.01 per cent), Infosys (down 2.26 per cent), Wipro (down 2.18 per cent), Tata Consultancy (down 1.85 per cent) and Mindtree (down 1.36 per cent) were the top losers in the index.

While Coforge (up 1.87 per cent), Tech Mahindra (up 1.33 per cent), MPhasis (up 0.86 per cent) and Info Edge (India) (up 0.41 per cent) were among the top gainers.

The Nifty IT index was trading 1.26 per cent down at 20998.05 around 02:10PM.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 77.75 points at 11845.5, while the BSE Sensex was up 224.93 points at 40370.43.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 31 were trading in the green, while 19 were in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, NTPC, Vodafone Idea, Ashok Leyland and Tata Motors were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Ipca Labs, Asian Paints, ACC, Ceat and APL Apollo Tube hit their fresh 52 week high in today's trade, while Mittal Life Style Ltd., Vikas Proppant & Granite Ltd., GE Power India Ltd., Maheshwari Logistics Ltd., Lagnam Spintex Ltd. and Shrenik Ltd. hit fresh 52 week low in trade.
