A powerful bomb blast ripped through an Islamic seminary on the outskirts of the northwest Pakistani city of Peshawar today, killing at least seven children and wounding 70 others, according to media reports. The bombing happened while a cleric was delivering a lecture about the teachings of Islam at the main hall of the Jamia Zubairia madrassa, said police officer Waqar Azim.
In India, the Supreme Court today said that the Allahabad High Court will monitor the CBI probe into the alleged gangrape and murder of the 19-year-old Dalit woman in Uttar Pradesh’s Hathras. Stating that the plea for transfer of trial out of Uttar Pradesh will be considered after the CBI probe is completed, the bench headed by CJI Bobde also said that the HC will look into all aspects of the case and witnesses will be provided security.
A day ahead of the first phase of polling in Bihar, the Congress President Sonia Gandhi on Tuesday issued a video message appealing the people to vote for a change in the state. She said, "Today, the ruling party is in the arrogance of power and has deflected from its path.
